The custom Broda [Synthesis Positioning] Wheelchair has made all the difference for our resident’s quality of life. We trialed a variety of seating systems for someone with his erratic movements and were unable to find a solution to keep him comfortable and safe when out of bed. This resulted in the patient spending the majority of time in bed isolated from his peers. With the Broda [Synthesis Positioning Wheelchair] he is now asking nursing staff first thing in the morning to get him into his wheelchair. He is up in the wheelchair 6-10 hours a day and maintains appropriate positioning the entire day. This allows him to be a more active participant in his environment and maintain safety. He attends all of the facility led activities and has made many friends throughout the facility. This wheelchair has truly changed his life.

One of our residents has frontal lobe dementia. He had stopped walking and feeding himself, and he appeared to be in pain. The occupational therapist was unable to adjust his wheelchair to accommodate for his trunk lean. A Broda representative came to fit him with a new wheelchair. Since then, he has been walking again, feeding himself, and he smiles and laughs like he used to. He shows no signs of pain. Our resident has COPD, claustrophobia, and decreased mobility. She refuses to sleep in her bed and stays in a wheelchair day and night. This caused pressure sores. The nursing staff cared for her and the physical therapist spent weeks adjusting her pressure relief cushion, to no avail. I recommended a Broda chair with tilt and recline. Within a day of switching to the Broda chair, her pressure sores showed noticeable signs of improvement. Best of all, she said she was much more comfortable.

After seeing a demo and trying out the Revive Shower Commode, we decided that it is the best on the market. We were impressed with the swing-away arms and the maneuverability of the caster wheels. Other commode/shower chairs are typically not as strong as the Revive, so we’ve had problems with chairs not supporting the weight of some of our patients. It’s the only commode/shower chair that we have really seen work and we are now big fans of Broda.

We had a resident with dementia who experienced a painful fall. She refused to eat or drink and was not compliant with her care. I could tell that her health was declining FAST. We put her in a Broda Midline Positioning Wheelchair, and she improved. Next, we rented a Broda pedal wheelchair with a pelvic positioning belt and she was comfortable enough to move around, eat, and regain energy. Broda wheelchairs are ideal for residents in her situation for comfort and pain relief.
